Description

After 20 years of marriage and three children, full-time mum Pia Pasternack came home one day to find a note on the doormat and her husband gone... Heartbroken, this was the first of a series of revelations that left her and her family reeling. But gradually Pia built herself back up, and in Making Peace with Divorce, written together with bestselling author Sarah Rayner (Making Friends with Anxiety, One Moment, One Morning and The Other Half) Pia passes on the lessons she has learned about the legal, financial and emotional implications of separation. Together they guide you through the minefield that accompanies the bust-up of many long-term relationships, exploring with warmth and humour sensitive issues such as whether to separate, how to break the news to children (if you have them) and how best to communicate with your ex. You'll find clear and concise guidance on finding a lawyer, filling in forms and reaching a settlement. And if a settlement cannot be reached, there's the low-down to help prepare you for what happens at court. There are quick tips to aid your own recovery, insights from others from all walks of life who have been through separation, and pointers on how to move on. The result is a handy, practical and uplifting guide that will make this distressing time less confusing and overwhelming, supporting you so you can 'make peace' with your own divorce or separation, thereby creating a happy and fulfilling future. - Useful links throughout, plus details of helplines and recommended reads - Fully illustrated by Sarah Rayner - Ongoing online support group available PRAISE FOR MAKING FRIENDS WITH ANXIETY 'Simple, lucid advice on how to accept your anxiety.'
