Description

Mankind in the Making published in 1903, is H.G. Wells' sequel to Anticipations, published 1901. Mankind in the Making looks at the process of man and his making. The complex set of circumstances that mould the potential of an average child into a citizen within the modern state. Wells criticises many elements of his contemporary institutions, and develops a thesis which he terms New Republicanism, which is to scientifically test everything by their effect on the evolution of man. The essays within the book were originally published with the pages of the British periodical, Fortnightly Review from September 1902 to September 1903, as well as the U.S. Cosmopolitan. This edition contains an introductory biography of H.G. Wells' life and work, as well as containing a bibliography of his works.
