Author Biography:

Sudha C. Patel, RN, BSN, MN, MA, DNS. As an Associate Professor,currently involved in teaching psychiatric/mental health nursing in the Master’s program for Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners and generic nursing students in the BSN program at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Also instructed accelerated option students for 5 years in psychiatric/mental health nursing education and have practiced since 1979 including in both Diploma and undergraduate nursing programs in the USA.Experience, in addition to being a faculty member, has been working with a wide range of clients with psychiatric disorders from children to the elderly as well as working with substance abuse and dual diagnosis clients. Also has a community health nursing specialty. Have done presentations both Podium and posters of research studies at several local, regional, and national conferences in the USA. Have presented internationally in Australia, Russia, and China.Publications to date include collaborative projects, textbooks chapters, and a textbook “Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing Case Studies and Care Plans”. Kim A. Jakopac RN, ASN, BSN, MSN, PPCNP Currentlyteaching psychiatric/mental health nursing in a BSN program at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.Specialty is psychiatric/mental health nursing and medical/psychiatric nursing.Over the past 17 yearsshe has worked with a variety of clients ranging from children to the elderly. She has experience working with substance abuse clients, dual diagnosis clients and case management.She conducted psychiatric/mental health and substance abuse evaluations in an emergency room setting and have worked as a hospital supervisor. The last 6 years of her nursing career have been in education.Publications to date include the book “Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing Case Studies and Care Plans”, research reviews (see CV) and completed a literature review for Dr. Sudah Patel and Dr. Ardith Sudduth on the healthy behaviors of freshman nursing students.She has been involved in research with Dr. Ardith Sudduth, Dr. Evelyn Wills, and Dr. Ina Koerner. She also had a podium presentation in Alexandria, LA.
