Saying something new about Maria Callas is an impossible task. In the fifties she was the absolute star of the international opera scene and since then La Divina has embodied the icon of opera itself. This IDIS CD presents the most beautiful duets she sang with the most famous tenors of that period; "di grazia" tenors like Cesare Valletti, or with a more modern and aggressive style like Corelli, Del Monaco and Vickers. Her fellow colleagues were not always on friendly terms with her, (with the exception of Giuseppe Di Stefano) but her presence inspired them invariably to sing to the fullest of their abilities.
