Author Biography:

Michael Hoechsmann is Associate Professor and Chair ofEducation Programs at Lakehead University, Orillia. He is co-authorof Reading Youth Writing: New' Literacies, CulturalStudies and Education (2008), and the former Director ofEducation of Young People's Press, a youth-oriented non-profit newsservice. Stuart Poyntz is Assistant Professor in the School ofCommunication at Simon Fraser University, and the former Directorof Education at Pacific Cinematheque, Western Canada'sleading film institute. He has published articles in the Reviewof Education, Pedagogy and Cultural Studies,Sociology Compass, the Journal of CurriculumTheorizing, the Canadian Journal of Education, Taboo:The Journal of Culture and Education, and various editedcollections.
