Matt Gaffney has been a professional crossword puzzle writer for the past 15 years. His puzzles have appeared in Billboard, the Chicago Tribune, the New York Times, and many other publications. He's written eight books of crossword puzzles, four books of variety puzzles, and the 2006 narrative book Gridlock: Crossword Puzzles and the Mad Geniuses Who Create Them. He's also the author of the Complete Idiot's Guide to Crossword Puzzles & Word Games. Gaffney lives in Staunton, VA.
