Description

What if you discovered mirrors that showed you your inner being? Now you can. Through vivid stories and personal experiences, the book's author, Dr. Adriene B. Wright gently guides the reader to see themselves inwardly and to see how living a transformed life can bring an abundance of peace, prosperity, and freedom. Though we may be well acquainted with the mirror, Dr. Wright uses the mirror to illustrate brokenness, fractures, dullness, or lackluster characteristics about ourselves. It is through personal experiences that she guides the reader into seeing their inner-being more clearly. She devotes an entire chapter on embedded emotions including anger, bitterness, unforgiveness, and incessant needs for validation and how triggers that we encounter in life release these like a ruptured volcano. While the author uses the mirror as a guide, she makes clear to the reader that it really is about the reflection. What do we observe about other people and what do they observe about us? Everything about us is a witness to other people: Like a toddler who mimics the behavior learned or observed from its parents. Will that be a proud moment or an embarrassing one? There are many studies that have been conducted on the art of mirroring and its effect on the young and old. We don't stop learning and the impact of mirroring is much greater than what we may imagine. The author draws the reader to see themselves by asking a series of questions at the end of each chapter as a way of reflection and to guide the reader in making a self-assessment. For example, What reflection do you see in others? What reflection do others see in you? What reflection do you see in yourself? Throughout the book is an emphasis on transformation. The author stresses the importance of self-reflection and provides relevant scriptural references. She also discusses the numerous do-it-yourself (DIY) approaches in the market today that may help with whatever needs you may identify but emphasizes that it is really the work of the Holy Spirit that brings about a sustainable transformation. The transformational process is not only life-long, but it also requires commitment and obedience. There are some who think that they can achieve transformation on their own terms and in their own way. There are some who mistakenly think that they must give up everything or worst, that they must clean up their life before coming to Christ. The author identifies the fallacies and exposes the misconceptions to bring the reader to a place of truth and freedom. It is the writer's highest aim that the reader will embark on a journey of transformation with Christ. The more we are transformed into an image of Christ Jesus, the better we are prepared to accomplish the purpose that God intends for us. This is where we reap the greatest joy of knowing our purpose, place, and provision in God's Kingdom. Mirror, Mirror: What Reflection Do You See? has been described as authentic, timely, refreshing, funny, and relevant. It is an awakening, guiding the reader to see their inner self. This book exposes false images, man-made standards of vanity, and worldly aspirations that hinder our life's journey. It also illustrates the joys and freedom of living a transformed life and the greater heritage that can be gained through a commitment to Christ Jesus.
