I don't often take the time to fill out reviews, but this software deserves it. I had seen this item several times, glanced and moved on, thinking it was a simplistic ‘sketchograph’ doodling thing for children. Never judge a book by it's cover. After seeing so many favourable reviews on forums, and artwork achieved on it, I decided to take a punt and buy it. I was very surprised at how advanced it was, how effective the lessons are, and how good this software is at emulating traditional art equipment like paints, pastels, pencils etc. I have been into art for years, studied Commercial Art and graphic design at polytech, and draw and paint as a serious hobby. I thoroughly recommend this, as a tool for artists to use, and as a very good teacher for those wishing to learn art fundamentals. The way it does go about teacher you are skills that are easily transferrable to art materials. I can see me getting a lot of use out of this. The inbuilt ‘Art Gallery’ is a nice wee touch to show off your works! The only points to note is the art is not ‘3D’, just a very good 2D art program with lots of features and tools, and that it probably works best with the 3DS XL and it's larger screen. Have a look at this if you enjoy your art, once the lessons are done the inbuilt art tools have unlimited ‘replay value!’

i brought this as something i could use to doodle on while i was going to work every morning since i dont have much time to illustrate anymore. i didn't think it would be as indepth or amazing as it is. it has beginners tutorials that teach you everything you need to know about drawing, painting, watercoloring etc. and even the beginners lessons are pretty intense. the intermediate will be fun to start on aswell. its a great game to help practice techniques and teach you new ones. id recommend to any artist or illustrator who wants to game and draw. you may be suprised what you learn and create :)
