Marshall Kingsley, a gifted nano engineer and Nick Jordan, a technical specialist are both looking for a new location to set up shop. Nick moves his repair business to a small town in Northern California at the same time Marshall arrives under the watchful eyes of homeland security agents - intent on confiscating his latest invention. Kingsley needs a volunteer to try out his latest prototype - a dream machine that displaces the real world with internal holographic imagery. On the pretext of requesting service, he calls Nick and invites him into his laboratory for a test of his character. What happens next is an adventure that leads Nick to wonder if the world he lives in is real or the product of his own imagination.
