Description

This book focuses on numerical simulation-based design theory and methods in mechanical engineering. The simulation-based design of mechanical equipmentinvolves considerable scientific challenges including extremely complex systems, extreme working conditions, multi-source uncertainties, multi-physics coupling, andlarge-scale computation. In order to overcome these technical difficulties, this booksystematically elaborates upon the advanced design methods, covering high-fidelitysimulation modeling, rapid structural analysis, multi-objective design optimization, uncertainty analysis and optimization, which can effectively improve the designaccuracy, efficiency, multi-functionality and reliability of complicated mechanicalstructures. This book is primarily intended for researchers, engineers and postgraduate studentsin mechanical engineering, especially in mechanical design, numerical simulation andengineering optimization.

Author Biography:

Prof. Xu Han is the Head of College of Mechanical and Vehicle Engineering in Hunan University, China. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in Computational Mechanics from the National University of Singapore. His research interests are computational mechanics and its application, computational inverse techniques and design optimization theories. He is a general council member of International Society of Computational Mechanics. He is also an Associate Editor of International Journal of Computational Methods and Inverse Problems in Science & Engineering, editorial board member of International Journal of Mechanics and Materials in Design, etc. He has published more than 200 research papers on the international journals and conferences, of which over 110 are indexed by SCI, with a total SCI citation number exceeding 1100. He has also published one research monograph on high-performance computational inverse techniques in non-destructive testing by CRC press and one international conference collected papers by Springer.
