His skillful management of the Oklahoma City bombing case led to the quick arrests of Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols. Kennedy capped his brilliant career by serving as the FBI’s highest-ranking official under Director Louis J. Freeh. Author Biography:
Weldon L. Kennedy retired from the FBI in 1997 as its deputy director, the organization’s second-highest position and its highest nonpolitical appointment. During his thirty-three-year career, he served in Portland, Oregon; Las Vegas; Miami; San Juan, Puerto Rico; Newark; Boston; Jackson, Mississippi; Phoenix; Atlanta; and four tours at FBI headquarters. Now a vice chairman and group executive for the security services firm Guardsmark, Kennedy lives in Prescott, Arizona.
