Author Biography:

Theuns-Robert Pretorius is a South-African composer and classical guitarist. He was born in Kempton Park, South-Africa on the 6th of July 1990. He started playing guitar at the age of 13, and then enrolled at the University of Pretoria for a bachelor's degree of music at the age of 19, which he graduated in 2013. During his enrollment at the university, he studied music composition and theory. After his degree he started teaching classical guitar to young students in Pretoria. From 2013 to 2016 he mostly experimented with different compositional styles for different genres and instruments. In 2017 he decided that he is going to dedicate most of his compositional output towards classical guitar, to try and produce idiomatic guitar pieces that are nice to play and listen to. Opus 2 is his second book he published, and it contains twelve new compositions written during 2018. The musical idea behind Opus 2 is that the music should be played as expressive as possible, meaning that the musician is allowed to interpret it in any expressive way as possible, the compositions itself only serve as a guideline.
