The evolutionary development of the human race has met with and surpassed many obstacles. Theoretically, from its beginning as the most simple form of marine single cell life 3.5 billion years ago the path led through countless stages of development to ape-like creatures walking upright on two legs almost six million years ago. This life form eventually became the human being with reasoning ability and consciousness of self. Today, humans are facing another phenomenal hurdle on the road which must be overcome before further growth can occur. The hindrance is of our own making: the attention to obtaining material possessions which leads to a detrimental competitive attitude and divisive self-interest at the cost to everyone else and every other nation.
