Translation from French to English: 15-12-2018"The Box Wonders" is an autobiographical novel by Ahmed Sefrioui, published in 1954 and belongs to the Moroccan literature of French expression.The box of wonders is part of the works programmed for the first year of the baccalaureate and which are the subject of the regional examination at the end of the year.The narrator being Sidi Mohammed (6 years old), the box with wonders from an internal point of view and a register of current language. This novel contains 12 chapters and treats as themes the family and loneliness.Summary of the wonderful box chapter by chapter: Ahmed Sefrioui, or Sidi Mohammed, takes stock of his childhood in the ancient Medina of Fes, recounting his days at Msid, the memory of the Moorish Bath, the preparation for Achoura, and his attachment to his box wonders. The story of the novel is a real testimony of the experience of the entourage of Sidi Mohammed, 6 years shy and dreamy child, his family, neighbors, their habits and their problems.The peaceful life of this child was disturbed by the sudden absence of his father who left the city to work after the loss of all his capital. In this novel, Ahmed Sefrioui describes his suffering and loneliness after this event and the dreary days spent with his mother visiting mausoleums until the return of his father. The box of wonders, through all these events, offered the child comfort and represented for him a way to forget the troubles and to be lulled by his reveries.Characters the box wonders: The narrator: Sidi Mohammed, main character of the novel, characterized by his solitude and his imagination. The box wonders, his only companion, contains heterogeneous objects that he considers his true friends.Lalla Zoubida: Lalla Zoubida is the mother of Sidi Mohammed. The story of the novel "the box of wonders" has presented as a young woman of 22 years who behaves sometimes like an old woman, says that she is part of the descendants of the prophet. She has a strong belief in superstitions.Abdeslem: Sidi Mohammed's father is in his forties. This mountaineer, very much loved by his son, is a weaver.Chouafa: Aunt Kenza, lives on the ground floor of the house and she appears in the novel "the box wonders" known in the neighborhood for his job as clairvoyant.Driss ElAouad's family: Driss is a plow manufacturer, husband of Rahma and father of Zineb who is 7 years old and is hated by Sidi Mohammed.Fatma Bziouya's family: Fatma Bziouya and her husband Allal, gardener, share the 2nd floor with the narrator's family.
