Description

Kerryl Shaw survives a deadly disease, but can she endure the loneliness that follows? A fatal virus ravages Kerryl's community, wiping out her friends and family. Left on her own, it isn't long before she starts to lose her grip on reality. She's convinced that she, too, will soon fall prey to the infection, and decides to record in a diary what she thinks will be her last days. She imagines a reader, and calls him Adam. As the empty days pass, Adam becomes increasingly real to her until his presence dominates her life and she becomes emotionally obsessed by him. She is elated when she receives what she thinks is an invitation from him to a date at a local beauty spot, and sets out across the moor to meet Adam in what she's sure will be a romantic encounter. It's only in the final pages that we learn what actually happened at that meeting, and discover the truth about the mysterious Adam. The truth is blurred in this captivating psychological thriller, which saves it final suprise until a twist at the very end. Paradise Girl has received a 'Chill With a Book' Readers and Book of the Month Awards, and an Indie BRAG Medallion. It's shortlisted for the Wishing Shelf Awards.

Author Biography:

Phill was born in West Yorkshire, England, a few miles from the village of Haworth, where his heroines, the Bronte sisters, lived and wrote. He read English at Cambridge and taught for several years before starting, with his wife, an educational publishing business. He has now returned to his roots, where he lives in a converted farmhouse. He devotes his time to fiction. His first novel, Paradise Girl, is set on the northern hills where, amidst the majestic beauty of the rolling moors, a lone young woman faces a bleak future. Phill's second novel, Aftershocks, is a companion to Paradise Girl and is scheduled for publication in January 2019. His third novel, The God Jar, is a tale of magic and intrigue which straddles 16th century Europe and 20th century England. When Phill is not writing, he enjoys reading, walking, music and theatre. He also spends time conserving the upland hay meadows that surround his home. Oh, and he plays the saxophone Badly!
