Paul Oakenfold is the sovereign of DJ culture and its’ most recognizable icon. Not one to rest on his laurels, Paul has taken the Guinness World Record for Highest DJ Gig when he played at Base Camp on Mount Everest in Spring 2017!
The whole thing was filmed and the resulting movie is due to be premiered in 2018…
The Everest Mix reflects the first in Paul’s Soundtrek series of
dj-gig-adventures to the world’s most awe-inspiring locations, showcasing
music cultures and bringing awareness of environmental issues. After two years
of planning, months of training and a twelve-day hike to 18,000 feet, Paul
threw “The Highest Party On Earth” for 300 locals & visitors. Along the
way they raised money for a number of charities including supporting
Nepal’s children.
The Everest Mix is based on the set list of tracks Paul played at the gig.
Similar in style to his legendary The Goa Mix, the new album contains a mixture
of Paul’s favourite tracks plus exclusive releases and remixes. Highlights
include three Paul Oakenfold track exclusives, two versions of new track
‘Broken’ and an unreleased outing of his classic ‘Southern Sun (Matt Darey
Remix)’. Following an eclectic theme the album also features Vangelis
‘Rachels Song’ from the original Bladerunner movie, an exclusive new remix
of the Black Box classic ‘Everybody’, Placebo’s enigmatic version of Kate
Bush’s ‘Running Up That Hill’ plus dance classics like Humate ‘Love
Stimulation’ in its’ legendary Paul van Dyk remix form. From chillout to
house to tech house to trance, The Everest Mix takes the dj mix compilation to
the ultimate highest level. The film will be releasing the same week as the
compilation album.
