Fans of heavy text-driven fantasy will no doubt love this type of game – anyone not up to reading through streams of ancient lore and endless decisive strategy in casting magic whilst being set on by corrupt beings should avoid. The game has been given praise (mostly by PC fans) – I tried and failed to understand what all the fuss is about – Witcher 3 is still the pinnacle RPG game on the system.

I like this type of game. I liked the presentation, the artwork, the characters and the combat. But unfortunately the story didn't grip me and I found the writing lacked the punch and sharpness that would allow it to avoid being a chore to read through.

As a PC game playing on a console I think it works… ok. Its a bit awkward, sure but you get used to it. But the PS4 struggles to run it. Its clearly struggling with the frame rate on large maps and the load times are excruciating.

I didn't find it hugely fun to play but it was a fine pastime game. I will probably buy the sequel though.
