Description

Book Band: Gold (Ideal for ages 6+) A fun re-imagining of a classic story, ideal for children practising their reading at home or in school. You've probably heard the story of Cinderella; how her father married for the second time and how his wife was a nasty, mean woman. But did you know Cinderella had a friend called Perkin who worked in the garden? She wasn't the only one the fairy godmother helped. You see, it all started with seven, big seeds... This magical retelling of a classic fairytale from bestselling author Patricia Cleveland-Peck is perfect for children who are learning to read by themselves and for Key Stage 1. It features magical illustrations from Hannah Marks and quirky characters young readers will find hard to resist. _______________ Bloomsbury Young Readers are the perfect way to get children reading, with book-banded stories by brilliant authors like Julia Donaldson. The series is ideal for both home and school, with gorgeous colour illustrations, tips for parents, and fun activity ideas. Online guided reading and teaching notes, written by the Centre for Literacy in Primary Education (CLPE), are available at bloomsburyreaders.com. 'Every child needs a Bloomsbury Young Reader. Fun, stretching, just the right length, full of adventurous vocabulary and punctuation.' - Julie-Ann McCulloch, Teacher

Author Biography:

Patricia Cleveland-Peck lived in France and Ireland before settling in rural Sussex. She has published fourteen children's books and has also written adult books and plays. She now works as a travel journalist and, with a young granddaughter, she returned to the world of children's books with the bestselling You Can't Take an Elephant on the Bus. Hannah Marks was born in Derby, England and grew up in the Midlands. She is a self-taught illustrator and often draws inspiration from anything vintage as well as completely random thoughts that drop into her head... which is usually after eating cake. She now lives in Hertfordshire with her husband, children and a (bonkers) kitten.
