Description

This book explains how the ideas of quantum physics were discovered by the mathematicians and physicists involved. Even though quantum physics became one of the most successful of scientific theories, explaining how much of our world works, its strange implications for humankind's relationship with the universe still disturb many scientists. This book discusses the science and the history of an unfolding quantum description of our world through the use of colourful diagrams, photographs and, where necessary, a text carefully written to explain some of the significant mathematical ideas in easy to follow steps.

Author Biography:

Robert Rankin studied physics at the University of Queensland, Australia, where he received an M.Sc. degree in environmental physics. He produced education documentaries with the ABC before completing a Ph.D. in science communication at Griffith University in Brisbane. For many years he has photographically documented the wildest natural environments of Australia, publishing a range of titles in various media, including books, software, DVDs and calendars through his publishing firm, Rankin Publishers. His previous book on physics, Einstein's Relativity, met with much praise for its clear explanation of difficult concepts. Quantum Reality is written in a similar style to explain one of the greatest theories of all time. Further details about Robert Rankin can be found at www.rankin.com.au.
