Description

2022 Facsimile Edition - An invaluable collector’s item Elsewhen Press are pleased to be able to produce this facsimile of the 1999 illustrated, limited edition privately published by the author but since unobtainable. “A must-have for historians, students, and those interested in the OWG or indeed protecting modern Britain.” – Sally Spender “Dr Seacastle’s ... Bestiary was the product of a great deal of solid research and investigation. It is a short volume ... but there is much in the book that is precise. Not only that, she makes several rather inciteful remarks about actions taken by Her Majesty’s Office of the Witchfinder General over the decades.” – Simon Kewin, author and OWG scholar The original edition has all but disappeared, but we temporarily gained access to a copy from the library of the Cardiff Office of the Witchfinder General, from which we have been able to create this facsimile edition. Cover design: Alison Buck

Author Biography:

Dr Miriam Seacastle is Visiting Professor of Cryptozoology at the University of All Albion. She has long been fascinated by the creatures and beasts who lurk in the shadows of our perception and that step only warily out into the bright light of reality. She is the author of several works on the subject, including Nightmares and Other Beasts, The Hidden Kingdom and Fantastical Creatures: an investigation into Mythozoology and Cryptozoology. She focuses mainly on the shadow fauna of the British Isles, but also spent several years researching the entities to be found in the Middle East and North Africa. In her spare time, she gardens, compiles crosswords and collects antique teapots. She lives with several cats and a human, none of which, so far as she is aware, are supernatural in any way.
