Author Biography:

RICARDO FFRENCH-DAVIS Principal Advisor of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) and Professor of Economics at the University of Chile; Co-Directs with Joseph Stiglitz and Deepak Nayyar the 'Macroeconomic Task Force' of the Initiative for Policy Dialogue (University of Columbia) launched by Joseph Stiglitz. Ffrench-Davis was Chief Economist of the Central bank of Chile and Director of the Centre for Economic Research on Latin America (CIEPLAN). He has published 19 books and some 120 technical articles.
