Description

Missionary, preacher, author, and friend of the Jewish people was William Eugene Blackstone. He introduced, what we now know as the Blackstone Memorial, to President Benjamin Harrison in 1891, on behalf of the Jews in Russia and the Balkans. His Memorial was years ahead of the writings of the great Hebrew leader, Theodor Herzel. Blackstone's efforts for the Jews to resettle Israel, came before the political Zionist movement. He wrote the best-selling book, Jesus is Coming, in 1878 being reissued many times. His ministry spanned the globe and his influence felt world-wide, from the late 1870's through the late 1920's. Although never in politics, Mr. Blackstone had contact with four Presidents, four Secretaries of State. Milton Stewart majority owner of the Union (76) Oil Company, was a friend of W.E.B... Business leaders of the day John D. Rockefeller, J. Pierpont Morgan, George M. Pullman, and Cornelius Vanderbilt signed their names on the Memorial. W. E. Blackstone was friends with R. A. Torrey, T. C. Horton, A. T. Pierson, A. B. Simpson, and many other well-known ministers of that era. You will read of his high points, his ebbs, the joy and the grief, his love, his passion, his hurts, his loss, and his great gains. Written from the Christian viewpoint, this biography of Rev. Blackstone explores the 19th century, and his place in Church History.
