The “America's Cup” race, the defining event in world Yacht Racing, is named after this vessel. It was designed to take speed sailing to a new level. It famously defeated seven schooners of the Royal Yacht Squadron in a race and won the now famous “America Cup” for New York. Later, the Civil War would see “America” used first as a blockade runner and then as a blockade ship! Kit features 12 pounder in the bow, two 24 pounders, two piece hull, detailed wood grain on deck, sails, yarn, metal anchor chain, rigging blocks, and display stand.
