Nicknamed the ‘Wimpy’ after the popular ‘Popeye’ character, the Vickers Wellington was anything but. Its geodesic, lattice-style construction made it light, fast, and strong by allowing most of the skin to be made out of doped fabric rather than metal. Unfortunately, this also made the aircraft vulnerable to fighters so the model was reserved for night bombing early in the war. Despite some drawbacks, the Wellington was a successful mass bombing tool and was one of the most successful early anti-submarine aircraft. Kit features 4-gun tail turret and decals for two versions.
