"Great Game - well worth playing, and thoroughly enjoyable"
4 stars"

This game is getting a bit older now, but the graphics are still awesome. Great colours and flow. I love RPG's and enjoy action games, and this hits the spot with just the right mix. The battles/fights are challenging but not impossible – although I did play them on the PC keyboard, I think it would be easier to play on a gamepad.

The game is prone to numerous crashes, and a web search will reveal the same grizzle world-wide – which the makers (CodeMasters) seem to have ignored and failed to produce a patch to address.

There have been some suggested work-arounds available, with this one seemingly the better one: http://community.codemasters.com/…desktop.html

However, I just grinned and re-loaded every time the game crashed, and managed to stay sane throughout.

Another problem encountered was problems trying to select the 4th option in dialogs – being the bottom right option. Web searches revealed this solution: “Press down or up key together with left or right – sometimes need both hands to do this while also press the ENTER key to select the option.” It is purely for the buggy-ness of the game that I didn't give it 5 Stars.

The story is linear, but there are a number of choices that can be made, leaving some open-ness to your own style. If you are after super-high quality graphics and eye-candy, this may not be your cup of tea – better to stay with the latest graphics intensive games. However, if you are after a great, fun game, that won't break the bank and remains enjoyable – this game ticks all the right boxes. There are 3 levels that can be played: Human – Hero or Legend; of course, these are the difficulty ratings.

One last tip: Check the Options Menu as to what buttons do what – there aren't many options to try and re-configure, but it seems everyone has problems finding out how to throw the spear – When all else fails: read the instructions : )

Would I play it again – You bet.

The story is great and the graphics are great as well. It was a bit short and there was way too much talking but for a cheap game it was cool. I recommend playing with a 360 controller as it can be hard playing with the keyboard.

A cross between an adventure game, a movie, some RPG, and plenty of action. It had a great story, was well acted and was a lot of fun to play. The story deviated from the original Greek Myth. All the characters were there, but some of there relationships to Jason are different to the original legend e.g Medea is a hero who helps Jason on the Argo, but in the original legend, Medea was his wife. But who cares, it's fun.

I would have given it 5 stars, but took one off because it's short. About 20 hours. It doesn't have the replay value of other RPGs like Titan Quest or Oblivion. But at under $50 it's easily better value than any DVD I've brought.

We also played this with an Xbox USB controller. I wouldn't want to play some of these battles with a keyboard.

This is rated R16, but I don't get it. There is blood (you are fighting with swords and maces), and there is a scene at the beginning when Jason bludgeons an Assassin with a mace, after his wife is killed. But this doesn't seem any worse than most other action games. Jason's character bestows all the greek virtues of honour and courage.

Description

With deep exploration and epic quests, players will take the role of Jason, King of Iolchis, and battle alongside iconic mythological heroes including Hercules, Achilles, Atalanta and others. As Jason grows from young king to true legend, set sail aboard the Argo and explore the vast Aegean - a dynamic world of islands filled with shining cities, lush jungles and deep forests.

Gamers will leave their mark on ancient Greece as they engage in heart-pumping, lethal, blood-spurting combat against hordes of enemy warriors, ruthless beasts and truly formidable mythological creatures. Whether Jason is lopping off heads or cutting warriors in half with his sword or if Hercules is wrestling with giant beasts, the intense action in Rise of the Argonauts will leave players wanting for their next confrontation.

Like all true heroes of Greece, the gods follow Jason on his quests. Jason will gain the favour of the gods and earn special abilities, but his actions may please some gods and displease others. Earning a god's favour will grant players powers within the god's domain, but drawing a god's wrath may cause them to inflict a torment on the heroes at the worst possible moment.
