In the Sudanese misogynistic culture, a girl was born. Being the first born in her family she was shunned by her father, because he wanted a son instead of a daughter; one whom he would bequest his family name. Furthermore, in the Dinka culture it is a father who bestows a name upon a child. But her father refused to name her, a stigma she would have to live with for the rest of her life; as the girl with no name. And at the tender age of ten, she met her childhood crush, whom she would lose contact with; but be reunited with later in life. However, this presented a great conundrum for the girl with no name, because she was already engaged. And she found herself torn between two men; the one her father had chosen, according to tradition and the one whom she loved. She was caught in a vicious love triangle that poised the question. Would she follow her culture and traditions? or would she risk everything at the cost of following her heart? It was at that stage in her life; that the political climate in Sudan began to change. Which resulted in the longest civil war in history. And because of the war; millions of innocent people perished and countless more went into the diaspora. It was in those dire months, of walking on foot from Sudan to the refugee camp of Ethiopia; that the girl with no name found her purpose and became the caretaker of many orphaned children.
