SandIsle is the first novel in a series set in a small idyllic beach community. The locals gather on the beach for a traditional ritual to pay respect to a beached whale. Elspeth receives a letter from her first love, who she has not set eyes in thirty years, and her beloved dog disappears. John's daughter is hospitalized with acute appendicitis. The final straw is on the eve of a storm when Maggie and Dole's eleven-year-old twin girls vanish along with Jenna's nine-year-old son. The locals form a posse to search for the missing children with the help of a grumpy old timer, Coral Reef. The SandIsle residents are memorable and endearing as they take on this soulful heartbreaking journey that evokes compassion cementing the extraordinary community as the story comes full circle and the curse is lifted.
