Description

Racket sports combine physical agility, ball, racket and eye co-ordination, tactical analysis and physical and psychological endurance. Because of these combinations they are challenging to both sports scientists and to the coach. The First World Congress of Science and Racket Sports brought together international experts in the field and provided a bridge between sports science research and racket sports practice. These proceedings include selected papers edited and revised after the congress on areas ranging from physiological stresses to fitness and from equipment to sports medicine. The major racket sports are covered with the emphasis placed on lawn tennis, squash and badminton. As the first Congress dedicated to the subject, it provides a comprehensive view of current research findings which sports scientists and coaches should find important. This book should be of interest to sports scientists and practitioners concerned with racket sports; racket sports associations; students on sports science, coaching and human movement courses; and equipment manufacturers.
