Description

A collection of personal recollections, as told to Marjorie Turner Hollman, Personal Historian

Author Biography:

Marjorie Turner Hollman's twenty years of professional storytelling experience have given her writing a unique perspective. In the last fifteen years her byline has appeared in "The Christian Science Monitor," "Perspectives," the quarterly journal of the Association of Personal Historians, "Alive Now," a monthly magazine of the National Methodist Church, "Storytelling Magazine," the national publication of the National Storytelling Network, as well as other more local publications. She grew up in Florida and comes from a long line of southern storytellers. She was beckoned north by college-and snow! She has a degree in history from Bridgewater (MA) State College. Her interviewing techniques, storytelling and writing skills bring out those sometimes hidden qualities in people, places and organizations, and make them shine. She uses these skills with individuals and organizations to chronicle their personal and organizational histories and transform these stories into professionally printed books. She also conducts memoir writing and storytelling workshops in the Southern New England area. Marjorie is the chapter coordinator for the Southern New England chapter of the Association of Personal Historians. There have been many generous people who have helped Marjorie at every turn. They've given her chances to try new things, provided emergency grammar lessons, offered cups of tea, spoken words of encouragement and so much more. In gratitude, she looks for opportunities to provide a helping hand when she sees a need.
