SMALL STEPS REVIEW: This award-winning sequel to ‘Holes’ is excellent. Firstly, the descriptive language by Louis really gave me a really clear picture in my mind!
Secondly, it was the first story I've read with a disabled person in it, Ginny was cared about a lot by Armpit/Theodore and she had a great part. When I read ‘Small Steps’ I thought that if I was Ginny, I would of had the best friend ever!
Thirdly, you could feel what Armpit/Theodore felt in some parts. There was not a lot of humor, but when there was humor, it was used a exactly the right places.
Towards the end it got really action-packed and emotional my heart was pounding!
Lastly, Louis Sachar obviously put a lot of work into this and because he did, it turned out to be one of the best story's I had ever read. The relationship between Armpit and X-Ray was wonderful and weird yet exciting and crazy. I almost thought it was the end of Armpit and X-Ray's relationship at one point. Louis wrote this part brilliantly so you could feel Armpit's shock and anger! As I have said already, it was brilliant.
WARNING: Prepare to be shocked… BY THE MOST BRILLIANT WRITING EVER!
