Description

Discover how some law enforcement officers cross ethical and legal boundaries over the course of their careers. Recent headlines about excessive use of force, murder, sexual assaults, theft, and other transgressions committed by police officers taint the profession and trust that citizen's place with those sworn to protect society. Law enforcement administrators, officers, elected officials, and the public must know what kind of officer violates the law and destroys trust with the people they protect. The same group must know what kind of ethical and legal violations occur.SNIPPETS: A Peek behind the Thin Blue Line includes data from a doctoral study about the effectiveness of professional ethics training standards in law enforcement, officer experiences, peer-reviewed articles, news articles, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation to answer those questions and inform stakeholders about ethical issues and violations in law enforcement.
