Katsunori Kondo is Professor of Social Epidemiology and Health Policy, Center for Preventive Medical Sciences and the Graduate School of Medicine, Chiba University, Japan. He is also the Head of Department of Gerontological Evaluation at the Center for Gerontology and Social Science, National Center for Geriatrics and Gerontology. He is the Principal Investigator of the Japan Gerontological Evaluation Study (JAGES) Project, which is one of the first prospective cohort studies to investigate the influence of social determinants of health and community social capital on health outcomes among older people. He is the author of the bestselling book, Health Gap Society—What is Undermining Mind and Health? Igaku-Shoin, 2005, which was awarded in 2006 by The Society for the Study of Social Policy.
