Season 13 is (in my eyes) a pretty solid season, with many original storylines and many hilarious jokes (Do you like fishsticks?). Some of the better episodes being “The Coon, Fishsticks, Eat Pray Queef, Dead Celebrities, W.T.F. And Dances with Smurfs” (which actually did a spot-on parody of 2009's blockbuster Avatar, an entire month before it was released).
The only episode I didn't think was particularly executed well was “Margaritaville”, which I don't think is the best episode of the season (Even though the two creators of South Park admit this too during the commentaries when they say that the idea was an “A+” but execution a “C-”, this episode actually won an Emmy!). The reason why I don't think it was executed well because it just wasn't as funny as the other episodes (yet some people seem to think the exact opposite).
The picture here is no short of glorious in it's 1080i High-Defintion. They use something called “Vector graphics” to make South Park, meaning that no matter how much you zoom in, you'll never lose image quality which could be a reason why. Dolby TrueHD is awesome too and the swear words aren't censored either (neither are they on the DVD version). The HD quality is definitely worth the extra $5 or so just for the Blu-ray edition. I'm just slightly disappointed that it is not 1080p HD (We have a 1080i version) like it is in the USA, yet I have yet to see reduced quality because of this.
Special Features include Mini-commentaries for all 14 episodes by the two creators, Matt and Trey, as well as 7 Deleted Scenes (2 of them Alternative endings) and an “Inside Xbox: Behind the Scenes of South Park” which is a quick tour of South Park Studios. While there could've been a few more extras (A longer BTS feature would've been nicer), I love the commentaries Matt and Trey do because some of them end up making you laugh 'til you cry.
Overall I think this is a decent boxset and season and is definitely worth checking out if you love the hilarious adventures of four boys in a small town in the mountains of Colorado.
