Spanglish
In Spanglish this beautifully observed comedy/drama from writer/director James L. Brooks (Terms Of Endearment, As Good As It Gets). Flor, a beautiful Mexican woman, becomes housekeeper for the affluent but troubled Clasky family (headed by Adam Sandler and Téa Leoni). Unable to speak English, Flor has trouble communicating with the Claskys… but soon discovers that they also have trouble communicating with each other!
With great performances and a “clash of cultures” story that reveals how life sometimes has a language all of its own, Spanglish is a heartfelt hit.
Critic Reviews:
- " It is a smart, sensitive, and entertaining comedy. " – Richard Propes
- " Sandler makes another step toward his transition from comedic actor to serious actor, while Leoni actually evokes sympathy for a character with some serious issues. But it is Vega who lifts Spanglish to its lofty heights. " – Micheal Compton
- " Spanglish is a heartfelt, funny, sad, human story about what people want and what they should do; about culture's colliding and maintaining their individuality; and about what parents do for their children. " – Joshua Starnes
