Was amping for this game since it was advertised. But I found that it fell in to the same trap as the Final Fantasy Series did with the FFXIII and Type-O games. When I think “Star Ocean” I think of back in Star Ocean 2, having to make decisions, choose your own team and actually having to figure out where to go and problem solve. In this game, you don't get to choose your Heroes, and they join your party and leave simultaneously throughout the game without your choice or chance of you making a decision which was one of the things that made the game great. Also the Creation system is just the same as Star Ocean IV which again lacked the creativity and diversity of the old systems in Star Ocean 2. Also, from what i've found there is no Carnival-type area (like in Star Ocean 2 of course) with the Bunny racing etc which is a shame. I just feel as though the diversity that we used to get in RPG's in the 90s (such as the older FF Series and other Square Enix and Tri-Ace products) isn't happening anymore and they are almost “dumbing” down the RPG mechanics and making it a (Slightly) interactive linear story, which is what I found with this game.
