Description

Embarking on higher education can be an exciting time, full of opportunities to explore your interests and meet new people. However, it can also be a difficult transition – between adapting to a new environment, keeping on top of deadlines and trying to socialize, managing your anxiety can feel like a huge task. Written by award-winning student mental health expert Dr Dominique Thompson, this easy-to-read guide will help readers understand where their anxiety comes from, and why it exists. Whatever the source of their worries or phobias, this book will help readers understand their anxiety and help them develop the tools they need to address it.  With lots of real-world examples, Dr Thompson shows how anxiety affects people in many different ways – helping readers develop the kinds of strategies that will support them in ways that are truly relevant to their personal experiences. Just as importantly, readers will learn about the kinds of unhelpful things that people try to do to manage anxiety which can do more harm than good. Above all, this book will help readers navigate their life and studies, without feeling like their anxieties are in charge of them.
