Alice is headed deep into the Tennessee mountains to meet Jory's family. Everything about this trip seems to warn of disaster. Even her fiancé's soft southern drawl falls oddly upon her ears: "Sulfur Creek? I thought you were saying they live at Suffer Creek!" But Alice is pleasantly surprised to find a loving family and a genteel welcome to their estate. If only the neighbors hadn't come for a visit.
