Love this movie. Tells the story very well!
As director Clint Eastwood has created something way more relatable and powerful than a simple “plane crash” movie. Tom Hanks in the title role is superb, and what the real story is about is just how poorly this exceptional pilot was treated by the investigators into the incident. Throughout the movie not one second seems contrived and I was glued to it. Including real footage from the incredible rescue only added to its impact. Having friends in the airline industry all I could think about after seeing this was thank god I don't have a job with that level of responsibility. I will never tire of this masterful feat of filmmaking whilst staying as true as possible to actual events. Highly recommend.
If you buy this to watch the plane crash and the chaos surrounding it then you are wasting your time. Basically it is a look at what happened afterwards with the Captain and Co-Pilot and how they were affected because the investigation tried to pin the fault on the Captain saying he should have been able to land at one of the two nearby airports (with a few quick clips of the real news coverage of the plane in the Hudson).
On January 15, 2009, the world witnessed the “Miracle on the Hudson” when Captain “Sully” Sullenberger (Hanks) glided his disabled plane onto the frigid waters of the Hudson River, saving the lives of all 155 aboard. However, even as Sully was being heralded by the public and the media for his unprecedented feat of aviation skill, an investigation was unfolding that threatened to destroy his reputation and his career.

Sully Reviews
“A fierce, stark, haunted drama of horror narrowly avoided.” – The New Yorker
“Like much of Eastwood's latest work, a highly proficient, professional, refreshingly unsentimental procedural about men.” – ABC.net
“This is pretty much the truth of New Yorkers' feelings about the landing on the Hudson – and Eastwood brings them back with a crisp, unmannered efficiency of which few other moviemakers are capable.” – The Nation
“The movie is a winner. One of the commuter ferry men declares, as he starts plucking people out of the water, "No one dies today.” And no one does. If that isn't hopeful, I don't know what is." – Philadelphia Inquirer
“It presses the case that the complexity of the human condition distracts us from the pure dignity of a noble act.” – Slant Magazine
