Survive: Escape from Atlantis! reviews

This game, from what I can tell is a reprint from 1982 (redone in 2012) Does it stand up to today's modern stands- I totally think so. The game is a mix of very “almost” team work, boats, whales crushing boats, sharks nabbing swimmers and the odd sea serpents crushing everything and everyone. Your people are worth varying points, so you have to remember which one is worth which…but don't let anyone else know you care about them! Each term is simple enough, moving your people off the central island, onto boats and avoid hazards as you go. However at the end of your turn, you take a piece of the island away, potentially dropping a friend/foe into the Ocean. This reveals a benefit or perhaps a new creature to join the fray. Trying to Survive your escape from Atlantis while either helping or hindering your friends do the same. To play and to behold on the table, it may have a simple but eye catching appeal, but it has a brutal edge that is an absolute blast to play with friends. It plays quick and plays a little different each time. My only warning would be, due to it's high direct spite, it can upset either young children , or more sensitive older souls. So choose your players carefully. This is a classic game, which is immensely popular, for all the right reasons. One that has a pride of place in my collection!

Easy to learn and easy to explain to others. This is a great strategy game. I really enjoy playing it and am very pleased with my purchase and with Mighty Ape.

This game is a great game with so many fun memories to be had! Every game is slightly different and the balance of randomness and strategy is good enough to make us come back for another game! Must pick up if you looking for a simple, exciting gateway game :)

Have played several rounds of this now and really enjoy it. Is quick enough to learn and a game is relatively short enough by most board game standards. The type of game to play with your non-board gaming friends.

An awesome game if you like brutal games where you take out other players. Definitely one to have in your collection!

Bought for my 9 yr old daughter , great fun and our 5 yr old can play too . Lots of excitement and people dying, and each game is different . Just enough luck to keep it interesting .

A brutal and fun board game where you can compete and collaborate with other players, depending on how it benefits you. This is one of my favourite board games as it is shorter and quicker than say, Settlers of Catan, and will really polarise your friends (you get to see who is a bad loser very quickly) – if you still have any at the end of the game… The expansion with Giant Squid is worthwhile (if you can get it), although the original whale/shark/monster pieces are probably a better fit

Really fun game to play with family and friends!

The die hard gamers in my group looked sceptical when I brought it out to play near the end of the night, but after only a few games, this became a must play for the end of our gaming nights. Something easy and fun to finish the night off. It's a great family game, everyone get's involved. Only criticism, only for 4 players, sometimes we need up to six.

This is one of our family's favourite games! It's also one of the few games that we can play two or three times in a row because you never know what's going to happen or what people are going to do. We especially love the fact that we can send sharks, whales or sea monsters after each other!

This game is really addictive. We have played it so many times over the school holidays and every game is different. A very strategic game. Love the concept with sharks, whales and sea serpents in the mix that can either save or harm your players. The winner is not necessarily the player who gets the most people off the board. Great concept. Can't believe I had never heard of this game before.
