Description

The only guide you need to prepare for the dangerous effects of climate change. The world has changed, and impacts of global warming means weather events like extreme heat, wildfires, hurricanes, and droughts are now being felt by all of us. We can ignore climate change no longer and must prepare ourselves to survive in new conditions. The key to surviving extreme weather events is to understand them from a practical perspective and then plan and execute tactical responses. In Surviving Extreme Weather, Mykel Hawke, a renowned survivalist and bestselling author of Hawke’s Special Forces Survival Handbook and Hawke’s Green Beret Survival Manual, and British meteorologist Jim N. R. Dale, share their expert knowledge and personal experiences while offering valuable insights into the science behind our new weather and how to apply situational awareness, preparedness, and psychology to survive. Surviving Extreme Weather: The Complete Climate Change Preparedness Manual is categorized by elements—fire, water, wind, and earth—events are explained with recommendations anyone can follow to protect themselves and their family, and to minimize the risks of damage to life and property. Included are lists of items every person, home, business, and vehicle should always stock, such as: first aid kits, afflictions, and applications; emerging technologies to help protect against different weather phenomena; structural and landscape precautions and improvements; philosophies to help family, friends, and neighbors get through any environmental ordeal.

Author Biography:

Jim N R Dale is an ex-British Royal Navy meteorologist and founder of British Weather Services. During his navy days, Jim was charged with observing, forecasting, and relaying the weather to an assortment of officers and crew in some of the most hazardous parts of the world, including the tempestuous Southern Ocean in and around the Falklands (Malvinas) and South Georgia, at the time of and following the war with Argentina. In 1987 Jim formed British Weather Services, now the longest established independent meteorological company in Europe. Jim and his company supply a wide range of clients, including television and film production companies, the media, insurers, professional sports clubs, bookmakers, the legal fraternity, retailers, and many other weather-sensitive concerns. He is the author of  Weather or Not? The Personal and Commercial Impacts of Weather and Climate and a family man, married to Kanchanan with three grown sons, Simon, Christopher, and Adam, and a younger daughter, Nanthiya. Mykel Hawke is a retired special forces officer and senior enlisted with specialties in medicine; his skills include dental, veterinary, obstetrics/gynecology, surgery, anesthesia, tropical medicine, and definitive level trauma care. He maintains his national and state paramedic licenses. Mykel was also a special forces communications specialist with a background covering HF radios up to satellite communications, cryptology, and morse code. He is currently licensed as an FCC radio operator as well. Mykel was also an intelligence operations specialist, which gave him a steep background in analysis and successful prognostication in matters of unconventional warfare. Mykel still serves in the reserves, holds a top secret clearance, and spends most of his time supporting and deploying with special operations forces working with active duty special ops from all four branches and PhD engineers to find capabilities gaps and create solutions for them, using his considerable experience in nine different conflicts on every major continent. He is the lead on Language Translation as a certified project manager, having been rated in seven languages, and keeps up his skills and fitness as a black belt in Judo and Aikido. Mykel has done over sixty television shows, produced and hosted over a dozen, been in a film, and is regularly interviewed by the news media on topics such as survival and special operations. He has published a dozen books on survival, medicine, special ops, and languages; he has also co-authored several, including a thriller series, and contributed to many others.   Mykel considers himself very blessed to have such wonderful wife, Ruth England-Hawke, who is a well-traveled journalist and seasoned adventurer in her own right and has worked side by side with Hawke on many dangerous survival missions on television as his co-star. He is father of three incredible sons and three amazing grandchildren
