This is a novel about one of history's neglected heroines. Susan Hummer lived in New Mexico and was famous in her own lifetime for her part in the Lincoln County War of the 1870's and later as the most successful businesswoman of the state. A contemporary of Billy the Kid and John Chisum, Susan lived eighty-five years and witnessed the founding of the modern USA; though for her and other women of the time the spread of civilised society was not an unmixed blessing. Hers is a compelling tale of ambition, violence, tragedy, and finally some kind of redemption.

Martin Sowery has written three previous novels and a book of short stories, all of which are available on Amazon. Following an overly extended legal career he divides his time between Madrid, Spain and Yorkshire, England
