Description

Learn all about the festivals and folktales which shape cultures around the world in this beautifully illustrated book. Find out where lost loved ones are remembered with paper lanterns and which culture tells the story of Rama and Sita. Discover the origins of Diwali and which US state builds massive sandcastles. This fascinating book celebrates all that makes our brilliant world so special; how we all have similarities and differences; how despite our various cultures and beliefs we are united by storytelling and celebrations. Vibrant artwork from Emma Trithart and Jane Newland perfectly illustrations the rich and unique festivals and myths which are central to many religions, nations and cultures.

Author Biography:

Jane Newland graduated from Maidstone College of Art with a degree in illustration, and has worked with a broad range of clients. She works traditionally and digitally, and has a bit of an obsession with detail. Jane lives in Norwich, Norfolk. Emma Trithart grew up in Michigan, but received her degree in Illustration from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Her favourite things in life are blankets, drawing flowers, drinking coffee and eating good cheese on a cracker with some pepper jam. Emma currently lives in Los Angeles. Sandra Lawrence wears two writing-hats: as a journalist, writing for newspapers and magazines such as the Daily and Sunday Telegraph, Marie Claire and History Revealed; and as an author, often focusing on heritage, history and folklore. She loves collecting stories from all over the world and finding out how different countries celebrate big events. Sandra lives in London, and spends much of her time rootling out weird and secret treasures the city has hidden over the past two millennia.
