Description

In this novel, the author invites the reader to see how life and universe are seen through the glasses of a scientist and her horse. Elisabeth Pearson, a young researcher from England with a brilliant academic career, and Juan Trujillo, a well-known horse trainer and son of the owner of the famous riding school in Jerez de la Frontera, happened upon a summer affair steeped in the magic of a deep and unexpected love for one another that changes their lives forever. Sense or sensibility? Morality or passion? Liz and Juan struggle to choose which paths to follow as their characters develop throughout the novel. The reader participates in their inner conflicts through authentic streams of consciousness, experiencing their fears and weaknesses and also their struggle against either the old-fashioned academic system in Europe or the brutal traditional methods of horse dressage. The horse is the totemic Alpha of the main characters of the book, symbolizing their beauty and strong and noble character, at the same time leading the reader into the realm of magic realism.
