Author Biography:

Vadim Radaev is Professor, Head of Laboratory for Studies in Economic Sociology at the HSE University. He has published widely on sociology of markets, informal economy, entrepreneurship, and alcohol studies. He has written ten monographs and edited nine volumes, including Millennials: How Russian Society is Changing (HSE, 2019) and Who Possesses Power in the Consumer Markets (2011). Zoya Kotelnikova is Associate Professor in Economic Sociology at the HSE University. She works on sociology of markets and consumption studies. Her publications include ‘Explaining Counterfeit Alcohol Purchases in Russia’ (2017) and ‘Recomposition and levelling of consumption expenditures across four economic shocks in Russia, 1994–2014’ (co-authored, 2017).
