This is a romantic historical novel is set in the time of the English Civil War. Entwinted in the plot is the love-interest of a young girl of French Huguenot descent, along with the trials of the unhappy marriage of the poet John Milton, and his first wife Mary, which led to his writing of his unpopular treatises on the legitimacy of divorce on grounds of spousal incompatibility.
