Description

The book offers the reader two new perspectives on interactions between the people (civilians/non civilians) and the state. First, it suggests a typology of five options that people can choose in response to an establishment policy (central Government, institution management). The options are: separatism, indifference, identity, protest and violence. Second, it analyses three cases studies from three countries (Egypt, Bolivia, Burkina Faso) where protest against an incumbent regime came from security forces. This is not a military coup but a protest establishment, contrary to what is commonly accepted in the research scholarly that the source of the protest is outside the establishment. Both sections has a combination of theory and practice.
