This tells the story of an ordinary man recruited into espionage during the cold war. It is based on real events and the acting in this, particularly by Cumberbatch, is superb. It is a bit of a slow burn for the first hour but quickly picks up momentum and draws you in. Really need to be 4.5 stars and well worth he purchase if you like a biographical style of story to sink your teeth into.

The best movie I have seen in quite a while. It stays very close to the real story & doesn't stray. Great actors with Benedict Cumberbatch is brilliant as usual!

The US had Tom Hanks in Bridge of Spies and the UK have countered with this story of the Penkovsky Affair. Excellent portrayals throughout covering both the political and human side of the story. The archival footage of Greville Wynne in the end credits shows the expertise of the Make up team as Benedict Cumberbach was almost an exact replica in the film prison scenes.
