George Payne Rainsford James, better known by his full name G. P. R. James, was an English novelist and historian. James was a lawyer by training, but he quickly switched to writing. Through fictitious storylines, he brought historical events and individuals to life in many of his works. James was a prolific author who, in his career, wrote over sixty novels. James wrote travel and history non-fiction books in addition to his novels. He was vice-president of the Royal Society of Literature and a member of the organisation.
