Description

An indispensable guide containing the common jargon, slang, doublespeak, plays on words, etc., used by real vampires to converse with one another. There are many self-identified real vampires who are just discovering there's a wide community out there, on and offline. Many new vampires are unfamiliar with "vampspeak", and use inaccurate or inappropriate terms they have been exposed to in popular fiction, movies, or role-playing games; or they use specialized terms that only they or a small group of fellow vampires have come up with. This often makes them seem like posers, or ignorant. This lexicon is an excellent guide and intro to much of the terminology used by real vampires. This edition includes over 60 new terms not contained in the first.

Author Biography:

Sanguinarius is a 43-year-old female sanguinarian who awakened in her teens (and made quite a fool of herself for a number of years!). She is the founder of Sanguinarius.org for Real Vampires / Sanguinarius: The Vampire Support Page (in the spring of 1997) and #Sanguinarius the IRC channel (chat room) on dal.net, among other resources. She is also a contributing author to _Vampires in Their Own Words_ (ed. by Michelle Belanger), and has also written a number of articles and information for her and others' sites. At one point, she was a member of COVICA (Council Of Vampire International Community Affairs) and also the GVN (Global Vampire Network). She was the Head for the Kansas Branch of ShadowLore, which was a network and group for vampires, donors, otherkin, fae, elves, dragons, therianthropes (were-creatures), and witches, as well as those who are interested, to meet and get to know one another. She was one of the early online vampire resource providers and helped network many groups and individuals early on. Sangi is gothic/spooky but also funny as hell sometimes. She loves chocolate, tea and her two cats: Scooter and Socks. She likes the paranormal, and unexplained mysteries, history, archaeology and science. Her favorite holiday is Halloween. Her favorite music is old skool Gothic Rock and Deathrock (not Death Metal!), although she enjoys a variety of different genres, including Reggae, Swing and Classical. She collects vampire books and Halloween & black cat decorations to pretty up her little lair. (What do you mean, Edvard Munch's "The Vampire" is not a suitable picture to hang in my breakfast nook ) She moved out to Tucson, Arizona to be near family.
