Description

It's a great time to be a player, but as anybody who has ever searched for an instruction tip on YouTube knows, having access to an unlimited amount of information doesn't mean you'll find the right information. And even if you find the right information, if you aren't sure how, when or how much to use it, it won't do you much good. Identifying the problem is only the first part of the process. You have to know what to do next. That's where The Game comes in. Golf Digest 50 Best Teacher Bernie Najar runs one of the most sophisticated and technologically-advanced instruction studios in the country at legendary Caves Valley Golf Club outside Baltimore. In The Game, Najar goes beyond the numbers to offer a 360-degree improvement plan for your game-from teaching you the mechanical elements of the swing to coaching you on ways to get the most out of your total golf experience. You'll learn everything from how to hit better tee shots to how to be a better member-guest tournament partner to how to understand what an analyst is saying about a tour player's swing on television. The Game is your complete guide to enjoying every part of the game. "I am a connoisseur of teaching professionals. And none has taught me more about all aspects of the game-mind and body, putting and chipping, hozzle and hitches, soil, soul and sole-than Bernie Najar." -Thomas L. Friedman, New York Times Foreign Affairs Columnist and author of Thank You For Being Late: An Optimist's Guide to Thriving in the Age of Accelerations "Bernie Najar is an extraordinary teacher who, in writing this book, has made the bewildering game of golf understandable."-Jim Hardy, 2007 PGA National Teacher of the Year, World Golf Teachers Hall of Fame 2016, Texas Golf Hall of Fame 2011 "Bernie Najar is one of the brightest minds in the golf instruction world today-always learning, always helping students play better. But so much more importantly, he helps players at every level from tour pro to beginner really enjoy this most wonderful game."-Martin Hall, 2008 PGA National Teacher of the Year, Golf Digest 50 Best Teacher

Author Biography:

Bernie Najar is the Director of Instruction at Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Md. Recognized as one of the top instructors in both the Baltimore-Washington D.C. area and the nation, Bernie is one of Golf Digest's 50 Best Teachers and Golf Magazine's Top 100 Teachers, and is also ranked as Golf Digest's No. 1 teacher in Maryland. He is a two-time winner of both of the Middle Atlantic PGA Section's top teaching honors-Teacher of the Year (2014, 2004) and the Horton Smith Award (2011, 2012). Bernie has trained under some of the most prominent instructors in the game, and, in turn, has become a resource for other teachers interested in improving their teaching and coaching skills. His studio at Caves Valley is one of the most advanced on the eastern seaboard, with a GEARS optical motion capture system, TrackMan launch monitor, Swing Catalyst 3D motion plate and SAM PuttLab, and Bernie was the first teaching professional in the Mid-Atlantic to be certified as an AimPoint instructor. He has also compiled a database of more than a thousand of the best swings in the history of the game-both from archival footage and through filming PGA, Champions and LPGA tour swings personally at events like the Masters and the President's Cup.
